Part 1 is the artistic part and the other 2 are the parade of nations. It is a Chinese TV broadcast. Quality is good. Didn‘t notice any commercials but I just finished downloading and skimmed through. Hope this helps.

Okay. Part1.avi is the opening ceremony, and includes a bunch of pre-show stuff, and includes a little of the Parade of Nations. (in a perfect world, there would be 1) Pre-Show, 2) Opening Ceremony, 3) Parade of Nations, 4) Torch Lighting. The entire thing is in, I believe, Vietnamese!, NOT ENGLISH, and includes WAY TOO MUCH talking over the show. The pre-show has good quality video, but once the opening ceremony starts the video substantially degrades. They do show small snippets of video not seen in the NBC USA feed, which was nice to see. Overall, though, I have to rate this POOR as I have a low tolerance for commentators talking over the show, especially when it‘s in a language I don‘t understand. I‘m canceling the rest of my download any looking for a different feed. I saw a short segment from the BBC feed, and hope to find a torrent of the BBC in Hi-Def or the NBC-Hi-Def feed.

My comment above fails to recognize that I, as a ‘typical‘ American, can dot distinguish Vietnamese and Chinese, so I‘m not certain which (or something else) this version is in.

To add to my comments thus far, this version has WAY too much talking over the show. The NBC-US version does some talking over the show, and some really annoying BREAKS FOR COMMERCIALS. The BBC-7 version is great, except the copy posted online thus far has a really bad technical difficulties problem starting with the "Movable Type" portion, once of (the many) parts that you really don‘t want to miss. PLEASE! SOMEBODY! Post the BBC-Y HiDef version without the picture lock-up/technical difficulties. This was one of the most amazing pieces of theater I‘ve ever seen, and hopefully some organization will re-release it as the producers had meant it.

NOT HD - this is standard definitions contrary to what the title says.

Not HD and there is constant loud and annoying talking by the commentators throughout the entire show.

Standard Definition, not HD. The commentary is standard Mandarin, not Vietnamese; where the hell did that come from? The video is 5/10, audio (not counting my low tolerance of Chinese commentary) is 7/10, but the opening ceremony itself is 10/10!

How long does it normally take to download something this large?

A long time, even with a fast connection. You‘re looking at about 6 - 10 hours on broadband.

tch. You people complain too much. There is alot of talking but you‘re just supposed to watch it for the scenery. They are talking in cantonese in a chinese channel. (thank goodness i can understand....)and so far this is teh second best channel to watch the opening in. The best so far would be this Korean channel called MBC or something like that. Little talking and has a good camera person. The third best would be NBC but they use TOO many commercials. And this isn‘t HD. Seems like it was just recorded into a VCR.
