I tried the crack, followed the instruction explicitly with changing the Installation id of the C: drive, reboot, but still the program ask for activation with a serial number, it doesn‘t ask for register but still in activation mode. So crack doesn‘t work... I agree with Ceesdu. BTW I found these sn on emule, works for serial numbers, but still ask for activation, what gives?

This is more like it, thanks to Ryboi.
I originally download this software/version which included the crack and crack instructions. However the crack instructions were incorrect in that they were missing the very important step about turning off the ABBYY Licensing Service and gave the wrong information as to where the ABBYY Licenses folder was located in Vista. The instructions also didn‘t explain very clearly how to go about changing and applying the VoLID once you opened the ID-CHANGER crack program. Those original instructions also instruced users that they needed to activate the product after applying the crack, by FAX or letter. This was not correct. Activation and faxing or mailing anything to the software developer is not required. After figuring it all out and making sure it worked I thought I‘d write it all out properly and in detail so there is no confusion on getting it to work. Detailed instructions on how to apply the crack: It is very important that you follow all of the steps below and that you don‘t restart your computer after installing the ABBY FineReader software. If you don‘t follow/complete all the steps below the crack will not work and you will still only have the limited trial version. 1. Install the program and exit/close the installation window when completed. --- dont restart. 2. Click Start --- Control Panel --- Administrative Tools --- Services -: Right Click Abbyy FineReader Pro v9.0 Licensing Service and click STOP. 3. Open Crack folder and run ID-CHANGER.EXE. A small window will open. You will see a drop down box showing a drive letter. Leave this at C: unless you installed the ABBYY software onto a different drive. Next to that you will see some numbers and letters in black type under the heading VoLID:. Below that you will see green text that says "for FR9pro" follwed by some numbers and letters also in green text. Delete the numbers and letters in black text and type the numbers and letters in green text, exactly as shown and without the "for FR9pro" part, in the white text box where you deleted the black text. Click OK! A small window will pop up stating a Reboot is required. DO NOT RESTART YET! If you restart before completing the next step, the crack won‘t work. You MUST do this next step BEFORE you restart!!! 4. Right click on the license file that‘s in the crack folder and click copy. Navigate to the ABBYY FineReader Licenses folder as below and paste the license file in the Licenses folder. Windows XP: C:Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataABBYYFineReader9.00Licenses Windows Vista: C:ProgramDataABBYYFineReader9.00Licenses NOTE: You will need to change your folder options to show hidden files and folders to see the Application Data folder in XP and the ProgramData folder in Vista. To do this in both cases, once you are in the All Users (XP) or C: Drive (Vista) folder, Click on Tools --- Folder Options. Then click on the View tab and select "Show hidden files and folders, click OK, open the now visible appropriate folder for XP or Vista as noted above and continue opening subsequent folders as stated above. *If the menu bar is not showing and you can‘t access "Tools," press and hold down the ALT key and press T on your keyboard. 5. After pasting the license file, RESTART your computer. 6. Once restarted, open the ABBYY FineReader program. A window will open regarding registration. Click the box to not show this again and click cancel. The program will finish loading and you should now have a fully functional version with no limitations. To check this, click on Help then About in the program window and you should see a Serial Key in the bottom left corner instead of the "X pages and X days left" that appears in the trial version. You don‘t need to waste time downloading/installing MagicISO. There is a free utility called uif2iso that decompresses the UIF format to ISO format, ready for burning a CD image with your favourite ISO-burner. (or just mount the ISO image as a directory).
(I hope all those instructions about making the crack work are true) Get the ISO-converter here: http://linux.softpedia.com/progDownload/UIF2ISO-Download-35316.html ...and _don‘t_worry_ about the linux compile/make/install instructions, because there is a Windows exe file included in the tiny download, with it‘s own instructions included. I followed the Linux instructions because my O/S is Linux, and this has to be the quickest easiest compile job in town!! ;-) |

ryobi - I have to add a caveat to your instructions......
This crack DOES NOT work if you install on a drive other than C:. I tried this several times on other than the C: drive and it simply does not work. |

This crack scared the hell out of me. I installed a copy of FR9 from the corporate site and used the crack from this torrent. So I only used the cracker and the license files. When I restarted my PC my AV was expired and my firewall lost a lot of the settings. There was also a private network that was created... though that might be from the licensing service. FR9 is apparently working though. Anyone have any other weird experiences? |

I should add that FR9 would not work if the Licensing Service was disabled. I‘d advise making sure anything related to FR9 is blocked from having access to the internet. |

Sure it works for everyone else ... but it‘s not working for me. I wonder if it‘s the version of Win XP? I‘m using Win XP Pro, SP2.
Anyway, I D/Ld it... and then,as I had MagicISO already installed, mounted it ... and then was going to follow SPACECADET0‘s instructions ... but right at the END of theinstall (all of the green bars had filled in 100% in the "Auto-detection of document languages" isntall portion, I get "There is a a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor". I converted it burned the ISO to a CD and get the same error .... so I‘ll try to upgrrade my Windows Installer package. |

thanks to SpaceCadet0. instructions work fine. in addition, you still have to activate ABBY‘s Screenshot Reader, to activate, click help-register. select by fax, fill up the form, put anything you want on it and send/done, your screenshot reader will then be activated. |

I followed the instructions and it messed up my computer. It reset my programs settings and system settings. I had to reinstall my programs and the settings to access the internet. :|
