go get the promotional package from macupdate.com or macrumors.com. It‘s about 550 worth of programs for 49.95. In that there is a program called little snitch. Install little snitch and then do as you did when adobe first accepts the serial. The adobe updater will constantly call home to validate. This is where little snitch comes in. Nothing goes through firewall without your permission. So you can manually go through can click adobe updater to never allow or wait until it attempts to update (it does frequently) and "disallow any port forever". I don‘t know how updates work. I think that you can just replace your files in applications folder with the updates then redo this trick, but I‘m kind of timid on trying that as I don‘t want to lose what I have. Let me know if any of you try this. Please do the updates first and apply the serial that is given then use little snitch. Let me know if it safe to update, if not i‘m content with what I have. |

A better way to stop the program from contacting the adobe network is by modifying your hosts file (some may have to do this from "safe" mode)... I got this from xforce (the ones who did my generator), and it works on my machine:
If you have problem with authentification when you launch the application check your %windir%system32driversetchosts file and make sure there is a line like this one: 127.0.0.1 activate.adobe.com Once you add that line, updater just cycles abck on itself, and you CAN update the software after doing this, but it won‘t kill your generated serial. |

if your on a mac follow the instructions that @hazylunarrain gives, worked perfectly on my macbook pro and a friends imac
1. On Finder Go-Go To Folder... 2. Search for ‘/etc‘ 3. open the file ‘hosts‘ with textmate or textedit 4. add ‘127.0.0.1 activate.adobe.com‘ to the bottom line 5. open photoshop (you may have to add a serial one last time, after that it should work) 6. dance! :D |

Excellent piece of work! All progs work wonders and serial number issue is easily resolved with little snitch! And for those who are worrying about installing updates...if you‘re not experiencing any issues and your computer is fairly secure, then you dont need to update! hey guys im such a noob at this. Downloaded little snitch but can only get the demo version. Also managed to download photoshop cs4 extended which works fine and ive blocked it reporting home. But i want to some of the other software, not them all. Could someone upload individually please - youd be my hero lol ;) |

@ crwoolsey: You need administrator privileges in order to edit the hosts file.
Open Terminal - cd /etc - sudo nano hosts - enter PW - add entries as needed - CTRL+X - Y - done! :) |
