i‘m using MPC 6.4.9.0 (which says it‘s compatible with the .mkv) to play this and it seems it‘s choking on the video, the audio‘s just fine. could this just be a result of my pc‘s performance or something i‘m doing incorrectly? |

i had that problem before. downloaded latest version of mplayer. disabled the h.264 loop filter (under preferences performance), and problem was solved. in other computer with more powerful CPUs, no need to change the settings. |

i did as you said, checked filters and the lot but it didn‘t work. i think it‘s probably time for a new mainboard anyhow. this computer is pretty old and not very fast by any standard.

This is Blu ray ripped high defination movie, your computer doesn‘t support this, you need to upgrade your comp. or get hd support graphics card. |

Download and install CoreAVC. It‘s an H264 (bluray, etc) codec that‘s been proven the fastest and most processor-efficient codec of its type. If your system can‘t handle it with this, you‘re in dire need of an upgrade. Also, MPC‘s internal codecs aren‘t the best. Ffdshow is the best all-purpose option, but CoreAVC smokes it in H264. |
