Sorry, but I tried to run the sample first to check it out and that didn‘t do anything... I‘m not used to mkv, I think it sucks :p anyone knows how I can run that sample? I have latest cccp installed and some other codecs like ac3... Mediaplayer classic and zoomplayer should work normally, but no. Help?

Hmm. It works, but it lags like crazy. Unwatchable! Do I need some kind of HD-program or something? I use the VLC-player.

It probably lags because your computer (or GPU) is not powerful enough to handle playing HD movies. Fantastic Release though.

I have to agree with Skvabs. The movie plays in VLC, but lags way too much to be watchable - most scenes are interrupted and pixelated. As far as my computer (or GPU) being not powerful enough to handle playing HD movies, that may be true, as I‘ve seen some lag with other HD movie files. However - this particular file is 8GB. It should have relatively minimal compression in it, compared to the 700MB-1.2GB files; so it should require less processing and play more smoothly. And, my machine is almost brand new - 64-bit, quad-core with 8GB of RAM. Could be that Windows Vista x64 doesn‘t handle resources well enough to play this yet? But if that‘s the case, there will be a lot of people who can‘t play this movie. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Update... Even after tweaking all the settings I could find, this video is still unwatchable. I also checked my video card - I have a GeForce 9600 GS. This is a mid-range GPU with 512MB of RAM that should not be having a problem with graphics to the extent that my machine is. What am I missing here?

The extra quality of this rip does no good if your hardware can‘t play it. This rip is EXTREMELY demanding computationally, and resulted in a totally unwatchable movie with pixelization and skipped frames ruining all the action scenes. I just watched the 700MB phrax rip, also available on btjunkie, and it has very good video quality with no skipping or pixelization. This file is NOT worth the time to download unless you have PRIMO new video hardware to decode it. Without that, this torrent is a HUGE waste of time.

FAKE!!! the file is not 1080p it‘s 1920 X 800.
it‘s still nice quality though, just don‘t hope that you‘re getting true 1080p

Mystermanin - you should be able to play this file fine with the correct software. Altho your cpu sounds too slow (what is it?) your GPU - the 9600GS supports purevideo HD i believe. Which means it can decode this file and offload your cpu. You will need to use either media player clasic homecinema or bsplayer + coreAVC 1.9 cuda.

However I have heard of issues with these running on x64 vista.. Really good suport for HD decoding is not quite there yet on x64 so if you have problems I suggest installing a 32 bit OS. Just because you have allot of ram doesn‘t mean you need it - if your just looking to play videos, 32bit OS is better. There is currently no good reason to a run a 64bit OS due to compatibilty issues like this and lack of software that benefits from it. Generally the only major benefit is if your running a server - especially database servers.

My cpu - a core2duo e6750 can play this and even higher bitrate files at 1-5% usage thanks to my gpu.

PS: More heavily compressed files are NOT more difficult for your cpu to decode. Lower bitrates are infact much easier to process, thus why an SD rip runs fine.

joebarren - incorrect. Batman begins was shot and encoded in 2.35:1 aspect ratio. This means you will see black bars on any high-def 16x9 display. As such the original encodes other 280 pixels is just black space - worthless. Thus the encoder correctly cropped that off. It is 1080p and no video image is lost.

VLC uses your CPU‘s resources to read the file, which makes the experience horrible if you don‘t have a state of the art equipment. For example, I have a Gainward 9600GT Golden Sample 1Go, and it still was crap with VLC. I used WMP, with a high quality setup and direct x acceleration, it works like a charm.

i use ffdshow and K-Lite Mega Codec Pack with a directshow compatible media player and it will work fine if you a have a decent dedicated graphics card (i have Nvidia Geforce 7600GT 256MB) and a good processor (my old Pentium D Dual-Core 3ghz couldn‘t play 1080p but my new Intel Core2 Duo 2.8ghz can), whatever you do don‘t use VLC, use KMPlayer if you want a player that has internal codecs. If you need to, convert the video down to 720p with SUPER converter or MediaCoder.
