Yeah, this is the real thing. Dont know why this 1 has been released first though coz at the movies, planet terror was the first to be played. Also, Planet Terror has been released on dvd, so it should show up here sometime soon. Another thing, being a fan of both movies, i cant believe they have released them seperately coz we are gonna miss the trailers before each film for example Machete. Know these arent real films but it made grindhouse a totally different kind of film to watch and totally stood apart from any of the films both directors have ever made. For real, my brother is connected with people behind the production of the Grindhouse Double Feature. First of all, what would Grindhouse be if it didn‘t create chaos and mayhem among the masses? Robert Rodriguez and Quintin are THE KINGS, and Grindhouse delivers. To clarify for those who‘d like to know, the *Grindhouse Double Feature* consists of two movies which encompass all that defines the term, "Grindhouse." (Check out Grindhouse.com to get further info.) The two movies in this double feature are, "Planet Terror," and "Deathproof." These movies are connected ONLY by being in a double feature together and are not otherwise related. There is no "part one" or "part two" involved, so you can watch them independently without the fear of missing some link. As stated already by rengeek, each of these movies are meant to look like a ‘70‘s exploitation film - scratches and broken film edits included. Watch these movies with that in mind, and take them for what they are meant to represent: snuff films, slasher flicks, gore - anything low budget, lack of plot, you can‘t stop watching, yadda yadda yadda. Of course, in this case - its INTENTIONALLY made to appear low-budget. Now, I have in my possession the Director‘s Cut version of Planet Terror (only distributed to the crew), as well as Deathproof (which ya‘ll can pick up at stores easily in the past 2 wks if you are wondering). A/10 V/9...(note to those who have not seen this film yet) The glitches in this film are normal. The director (Quentin Tarantino) wanted to give it an old B Film style. The same effects can be seen is Robert Rodriguez‘s film Planet Terror; Another Grindhouse film. The only problem i had when i d/l Deathproof was a thin bright green bar that runs all the way across the botton and up and down the right side of the frame. It‘s a little annoying at first but after a while you‘ll learn to just ignore it, so over all it doesn‘t really ruin the enjoyment of this film. Some of you may not have this problem at all. This is by far my favorite of Tarantino‘s work. An instant cult classic, with hot girls, fast cars and a real "face kicking" ending. My favorite of the girls is Kim (Tracie Thoms) hands down....or in her case "fists up" this chick is a total badass in this film. Recommendations: Vanishing Point (The 1971 original, not that bullshit remake) The Devil‘s Rejects, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (The original, The remake and the remakes prequel) Planet Terror (you‘ll notice that both the Grindhouse films have some of the same characters, such as Michael Parks who plays Earl McGraw who also plays the same role in Kill Bill and From Dusk Till Dawn; another great film. |
