This really does work great! Just unpack the .dss to a folder on your HD and play. I keep my gaming comp offline, and now I can finally play HL2 without that Steam(ing pile of shit) crap. |

Okay so I downloaded this baby, and opened it via PowerISO.
When I try and install it, I get the following error: - ‘Unable to get IFileSystem interface from file system factory‘ I‘m running it from PowerISO, not a burnt DVD. Do I need to burn it first? |

If your computer is running pn Windows Vista.. you to moant the image file extract it... then create a folder in C: called "TEMP" then inside this folder create another one called "hl2" ... then put all the extracted files here and run from the Half Life offline shortcut... the game should run fine... and without any hassle... enjoy motherfuksters...
ohh and the complete folder location should be C:TEMPhl2 |

Ok. don‘t mount the .daa file using poweriso because the load points in the levels won‘t work. I think it can‘t extract the data fast enough, and it crashes. Extract the .daa to a main directory in your hard drive and right click on "hl2.exe" and create a shortcut. Move that shortcut to your desktop and right click on it. Go to properties.
In the "target" field add: -steam -console Then launch the game from the shortcut. When the game starts type: sv_cheats 1 That will enable cheats. Then in the game use the ~ key and type: god (for god mode) impulse 101 (for full ammo) It worked for me. |

I managed to get half life 2 to run ok.

it‘s not an episode at all... it‘s half-life 2. "half-life 2: episode one" and "half-life 2: episode two" are the first two sections of half-life 3. valve named them HL2 because of some retarded thing in their ad department.

The game is glitched for me. Black Mesa East the female character won‘t get into the elevator and push the button, I had the same trouble nearer the beginning of the game, but upon replaying it seemed to work, however I‘ve tried it many times and an unable to get anywhere....don‘t know what to do?! |

Ok so I did everything that rodskape50 said to do and every time I open the Off Line, or any, shortcut it keep saying %1 Is Not A Valid Win32 Application. I also tried opening the file from my Steam console an still nothing.
Any ideas? |

It works (simply unpack start, no installation, no cracking) but you will need PowerISO to do so, I couldn‘t access the .daa file with daemon tools etc. |

Don‘t bother with this, .daa files are a pain in the ass. I tried PowerISO and that failed, tried converting the .daa to an ISO and that failed too, go for a different download and save yourself the time |

you will need power ISO to run it it don‘t need installed tho its not every practical every time you get to a loading screen(about ever 10 mins) it crashes and even worse it will not keep your saves so you may as well not even bother its only good for trying the cheat codes |

I couldn‘t play it when it was mounted, so i copied it on my hd, then it works past the load points. But then sometimes it says that it lost the connection with steam... for no reason...
The only way to resolve that problem is to delete all the files and to copy them again... And i also had the same problem as outogetyou, the bitch at black mesa didn‘t want to push the elevator button... COMMON PRESS IT!!!!!!!! |

Funzt super, einfach über Steam-Console zocken! Ordner entpacken mit Power ISO, danach Start exe als Desktopverknüpfung erstellen und bei den Eigenschaften des Desktopsymbols (mit Rechtsklick auf das Icon) hinter dem angegebenen Ziel der Verknüpfung "-steam -console" eingeben, danach auf okay und los gehts.... |

Requires a little fancywork but if you have any computer experience should work just fine. .iso didn‘t mount for me so I extracted it and created a shortcut for the game, there are instructions in the included .nfo file. |

works fine. just remember to extract onto your hard drive. you must create a shortcut to the hl2.exe and add -steam -console to the end of the target area or you WILL the IFileSystem interface error.
.daa files are a pain in the ass, but you can get a small daa to iso program here: http://aluigi.org/mytoolz.htm . it‘s smaller than a meg and can convert this daa in about 3 minutes, allowing you to mount with daemon. good alternative to poweriso! **as for the chick at black mesa east that wont press the button: get on the elevator, hit f6 for quick save then f9 for quick load, she stepped her happy ass on and pushed the button. worked for me, anyway. |

The thing about this game is when you install it, and it does work which i have checked out myself. Is when the game runs, it uses every known resource on the computer hence the memory starts to back down to nothing. Basically the game is using every transistor or on board chip while playing. Poweriso does extract it perfectly, and like stamps said you must have the target name on your desktop using -steam -console behind the name of half life 2 in properties of the desktop icon of half life 2. But the game will crash soon enough after playing too much of it because of the memory usage. It is better to just go to steam and get the game there to play because then the memory is not an issue anymore. It‘s like putting small blocks in one a one inch cube on top of each other until it falls down. The game looks great though, and the elevator scene is true, you have to press F6 then F9 right after alyx wakes you up. Then she‘ll press it. So for those of you able to play it remember the memory useage drains away performance. Then the game stops. I went back to steam and got it again and it works fine to the end. So it is in the game file itself. It will not read all possible memory to keep you going. |

I‘m also having the problem at Black Mesa East where Dr. Mossman won‘t get on the elevator. I‘ve tried everything I can think of. Saving and loading, reloading from an earlier autosave, using the ai_step and ai_resume console commands, etc. Nothing has worked though, any other suggestions? |
