Invisible Objects. Can be frustrating to play when you can‘t see land mines, computer desks, things of that nature. It‘s not the computer either, its the release. I just finished half-life 2 with no problem. |

nolannolan, after complete DL, U have to change the name of hl2ep1dma.r08 for hl2ep1-dma.r08, then extract, and everything will be fine. |

The game ran smoothly on my end in all high settings but later crash back to the desktop with the error message: internal driver error in IDirect3DDevice9:: Present().
Anyone encountering this error could quite possible update their video cards and/or reinstall directx9. I later found out that a considerable number of people were suffering from the same problem and the two valid options to rectify it was to either update your video card drivers and/or reinstall dx9. Personally, I found both to be an utter waste of time and I was able to find alternative ways to get the game running properly. One way is to create a shortcut of hl2.exe and add this to the target: -steam -game episodic -window -dxlevel 80 -w 800 -h 600 +mat_forcehardwaresync 0 You can remove the -window if you wish to run it in full screen, as well as change the width (-w) and height (-h) to your current resolution. If it still crashes, try changing the -dxlevel to 70 instead. Another issue is the sound stuttering crash which can be easily rectified by going to start - run - type in dxdiag - under Sound 1 and reduce the Hardware Sound Acceleration Level to Basic. |
