Unzip 1 file,and the rest will unzip with it.Download a file called (NEPTON)
Copy it into were the HL Icon is..And run the That you copy into there.AND BANG.ENJOY THE GAME..It worked for me. Wen you download the NEPTON copy all file from it into the HL FOILDER. Enjoy. |

El juego descomprimido ocupa 8‘60 Gb?, me parece demasiado, con el patch de Nepton funciona sin problemas, hay que copiar el contenido dentro de la carpeta del exe. Dejando el resto de archivos del gfc fuera. Lo que si quisiera es volverlo a comprimir para que me entre en un DVD 5, lo que no sé es el nivel de compresión.

I need help. After the download and extraction, I opened up the readme file which says this:
"Create shortcut on hl2.exe and add these parameters: -steam -game ep2 It will look like: X:somedirportalhl2.exe -steam -game ep2 Run the shortcut and have fun ;)" Then I doubleclicked on hl2.exe and it said: "Setup file ‘gameinfo.txt‘ doesn‘t exist in subdirectory ‘hl2‘. Ok. I figured it out, sort of. I found the file ‘gameinfo.txt‘ in the ‘ep2‘ folder, so I copy and pasted it into the ‘hl2‘ folder. I tried ‘hf2.exe‘ again, and it ran. Now here comes another problem. I can‘t play it. I clicked ‘New Game‘, then ‘Start new game‘ but nothing happens. |

THIS FILE WORKS FINE...
heres how to make it work. * Locate the shortcut to the video game on your desktop. * Right click the file and select Properties. * Under the shortcut tab, you will see an area that says Target, this will list the exact location of the file within quotation marks. * Modify the Target adding the command line variables after the last quotation mark. * Press apply and start your game via the shortcut. so basically in the end it should look something like this.. ""H:New Folderhalf-life 2 episode twohl2.exe" -steam -game ep2" The H is there becuase i inst in my h drive. oh and make sure the gameinfo.txt file is both in the h12 folder aswell as the ep2 folder. should work fine ppl! |

ok guys for the "MountAppFilesystem() Failed" problem, you just have to unrar the thing from unl-ep2.rar, not unl-ep2.r00 or else.
And the NEPTON fix is only useful if you don‘t know how to create the shortcut with "-steam -game ep2" |

this sucks ass, because it has some !@#ed up problem with saving your game. at least with me, every game i saved showed up as the same time and date. then i tried just loading the savegames from the console (e.g. load Halflife2_001) but it eventually lost track of those too. got REALLY far and totally lost my game. :( |

it runs smoothly.........yes!!!! unrar with no prob. for those who has probs with unrar, try using newer version of winrar. but i just use winrar crystal edition 3.42.
- create desktop shortcut of hl2.exe file - at desktop shortcut, right click properties - put " -steam -game ep2" after the directory at target box - example: "F:GAMESHalf.Life.2.Episode.Two-Unleashedhalf-life 2 episode twohl2.exe" -steam -game ep2 - play the game |

All you need after unziping the game go to this link and download NeptoN Portal FiX once downloaded the NeptoN Portal FiX then go to the folder and cut paste all in the folder to the half life ep2 folder then press the start. very easy remember cut paste to the half-life 2 episode two where the hl2 icon is.

I presume you have extracted the game. Follow the steps:
1) Find the GameInfo.txt 2) Make copies of it in every single folder and subfolder(every single one even in the main folder) 3) Download the patch from this link: http://btjunkie.org/torrent/NeptoN-ep2-FiX-torrent/4232afea700e56b015ff26d4e5fb1 80ff3824c3feac4 4)Extract the patch, and copy it in to the main folder (the one witch is with a bunch of GCF files) 5)U are done! Works, packed EP2, runs without Steam or any login/cdkey.
But I guess its some pre-retail or not 100% correct pack - textures for 2 world objects are missing and some workers (not plot NPCs) dont have any movement/actions. But thats small problems, you may not even notice them while enyoing the game. |

First of all I am guessin you have the game extracted and in a folder. Second is to download the NeptoN Portal FiX located here at btjunkie. Third is to make sure the gameinfo.txt file is both in the h12 folder aswell as the ep2 folder so just copy from the location to the other. Forth extract all contents in the NeptoN Portal FiX and I mean the start.bat and .dll‘s all go into the half-life 2 episode two folder. LAST... DOUBLE CLICK THE start.bat ICON in the half-life 2 episode two folder and there you go. No need for the shortcut parameter change this way. GOOD LUCK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

it worked fine. didn‘t need to extract anything separate from unl-ep2.rar. Just follow the instructions and if it doesn‘t work, remove the unzipped files and try a clean extraction from the begginning. Don‘t forget the gameinfo textfile. Nice job!!! After about 16hours of playing the game ended! After a point, I experienced some sound anomalies, for example when I looked straight to the speaking person, the left and right sound channel weren‘t synchronized and sounded as intense echo. If anyone else had the same problem plz report. |

I‘m experiencing a problem i just can‘t solve. I do everything right, entering the -steam, -game, ep2 implementations but the game kills when the menu is about to appear. The valve head en the load intro is just right but then it just stops! I‘m back on my desktop screen with a message that the game requires at least DirectX 8 or more. But I have 9c installed! The strange thing is that when i run the game without the additions it will start the menu without problems. But of course i won‘t be able to start the game then... I have tried the patch solution also but with the same dead result. Can someone tell me what is going on how and how to solve this? |

Like many people, I had a problem with the ‘MountAppFilesystem() Failed‘ error, after reading the comments and trying several solutions I finally got it to work. The problem seemed to be when I un-rar‘d the files, it would not work until I un-rar‘d it from the very first .rar file, not .r00 (which was the first .rar file shown).
If you have ‘Hide extentions‘ checked in Explorer, just open any of the .rar files, then click the ‘Up One Level‘ button in WinRAR and then select ‘unl-ep2.rar‘ from the list of files. Then create a shortcut to the hl2.exe file and add the parameters (as described earlier) and copy the file Gameinfo.txt from the EP2 folder to the HL2 folder. You do not need the NeptoN patch. |

what you have to do is unzip, create a shortcut of "hl2.exe" wherever you want and go to its properties and add on the TARGET DIRECTORY after the quotes -steam -game ep2 and it should say this: X:directoryHalf.Life.2.Episode.Two-Unleashedunl-ep2half-life 2 episode twohl2.exe" -steam -game ep2. apply and accept, when you go back to the directory where you made the shortcut the name will still be hl2.exe, but when you execute it it will be episode 2..TOTAL SPACE UNZIPED 8.6 GB, good copy |
