VIRAL PATCH! Don‘t bother.
The actual installation appears legitimate, installed fine, authentic symantec setup etc, usual trojan detected in keygen which is ignorable as antivirus software always picks these up. However, as soon as I applied the SP2 patch I hit some major problems. First of all the patch installer doesn‘t look the slightest bit legitimate, then installation completed and Ghost wouldn‘t run at all. My system clock then lost sync with domain time, MSN messenger crashed, Outlook was hanging everything generally just slowed right up. I did a reboot and the system was just too slow to work with, task manager ran eventually after waiting 10 minutes revealing normal CPU mem usage however HDD activity was non stop. Tried system restore which reported no restore points even though i have it enabled, virus/spyware scanned in safe mode checked system with hijack this which all seemed ok. In the end had to spend 2 hours restoring my daily backup (and thank f**k I do one)! I can only hazard an educated guess it was the patch that caused this, although I won‘t be touching any of these files again and would strongly advise anyone else not to either. Kevmeister |
