Is this true 1080p or at least 720p? I downloaded another torrent of these and it was just DVD upscaled to 1080p, what a waste of download!
Can someone please comment on the quality of this video and confirm that it is true 1080p? Star wars has never been released on HDDVD or Bluray so it seems impossible unless someone internal encoded the masterfiles and leaked it. |

skychan, trust me, this is beautiful 1080 High quality Star Wars, all episodes. Its a rip from HD-TV. Funny how you can find better quality from pirates than what you can buy in a store, huh? Ive also downloaded crap "HD" Star Wars files before but this is AWESOME and worth waiting for! |

I should have looked closer to begin with... this torrent is identical to the one below it after searching "star wars 1080" and it is indeed the one I had already downloaded in full. I can confirm without a shred of doubt that this is not HDTV and is in fact DVD (480p) upscaled to 1080p.
I have compared it directly to the DVD, it is of the same quality. Making the DVD version of star wars full screen on my 1080p TV looks identical to this "1080" version. Do not download this, save your download time and just download the DVD instead of this. We will have to wait for Lucas Arts to release this on Bluray. |

skychan, you seem to think that its in fact DVD (480p) upscaled to 1080p...
...then please do this: You need a monitor/HDTV with the resolution around 1080, Take a DVD version of SW Ep. IV - A New Hope and upscale it to fullscreen. Go to the medal scene at the end, very close to 2 h, pause the movie when you see the frontshot of C-3PO:s belly. He holds his left hand behind R2-D2. Now do the same with this version of the movie with another movie player. Toggle between the two paused screenshots and compare. If you cant see the GRAND difference in resolution between this copy and the upscaled DVD-version, then either youre too far from your screen, youre almost blind or I dont have the slightest clue of what youre talking about :) You cant even see the striped texture of the material behind C-3PO:s belly wires in the upscaled DVD version for the love of the Force! This HD version is superb while we wait for the Blu-Ray version. |

Alright I concede, this is a higher resolution than 480p. That scene with C3POs hand behind R2D2 (at the medal ceremony) is sharper for sure. I still have seen better looking 720P movies but this might very well be 720 or 1080 with loss of detail due to the source being analog HDTV. Troy and Ironman at 1080p both have so much more detail on faces and structures, etc.
This does look significantly better than DVD and so I will keep it, but when it comes out on Bluray you can be sure it will look better. |

Where were these versions sourced from? American satellite or European? If they‘re American, then they‘re not much use as the US versions were horribly over-compressed. I‘m looking for the same versions that Wookie Groomer and Adywan have used as the sources are much better. |

Well, the resolution may suggest it‘s 1080p rip, but from HDTV, so the quality obviously canot be blue-ray rip like. Bitrate in HDTV has to be lower which causes worse picture qulity. None the less this rip is the best you can find out there until there is official blue-ray and it looks GREAT on Full HD plasma TV. |
