Works for me. If you have probs with the subtitles, delete the "[2007]DvDrip[French]-FXG" and possible the [eng][subs] one as well. |

This film got nominated for 4 Oscars: Best Director (Julian Schnabel), Film Editing, Cinematography, Adapted Screenplay. It wasn‘t eligible for Foreign Language film because it was produced by an American company.
To get the subtitles working in VLC media player, you should go to the Video menu, then select Subtitles Track, then Load. Then select the .srt file that is part of this download. (This won‘t work if you are in "Minimal view" or Fullscreen. You can get out of minimal view by right-clicking and selecting Interface Minimal View.) |

I think if you change the .srt file to
The Diving Bell and the Butterfly[2007]DvDrip[French]-FXG.srt (i.e. exactly the same name as the .avi file but with a .srt file extension at the end instead of .avi) then it might work automatically but that might just be only in VLC player. Alternatively just learn French. Don‘t be lazy. |

I mean change the .srt file name, and then run the .avi file normally and maybe VLC player will just add the subtitles automatically. |

As mentioned before, change the srt file to have the exact same name as the avi.
ie. "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly[2007]DvDrip[French]-FXG.srt" When you do this the english subs work. |
