For the sound and video issue just download the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack and install it. Also download VLC Media Player if you don‘t have it.
And if the volume of the sound is too low, go to equalizer in VLC and change it to "Headphones" or "Full Treble". It increased the volume dramatically for me. Try it and enjoy. |

great movie great qaulity on cpu but then i brought 3 dvd9 blank discs and burned the movie and tryed to watch it on non hd tube tv w/ upconvert dvd player and the dvd player said th res was to high for screen HENCE IF YOUR NOT HD YET DONT EVEN TRY PUTTING THIS THING ON DVD OR YOU WILL END UP WITH A 6.1 CHANNEL SURROND SOUND AUDIO BOOK |

Good image quality. Sound is a bit weak but I adjusted the volume levels using Adobe Audition. This can be done without re-encoding the video and loosing quality. Adjusting the volume level using Adobe Soundbooth will also work. It takes no time at all to do this. Thanks to the uploader |

Bollox to using my PC for watching internet movies. Mod a good old Xbox One (a piece off piss, you don‘t even need to open it) Install XBMC(like VLC plays anything) as a dash, a bit of jiggery pokery to setup the network and your streaming the movie from your PC harddrive to your main TV in the comfort of your armchair, or even better install a Terabyte(1000 gig) harddrive and keep everything you‘ve got on there FOREVER!!!! |

Hi again, finally downloaded this torrent, I burnt all 3 movies straight onto one DVD and put it in my Xbox, good picture quality tho whoever recoded these avi‘s totally fucked up the aspect ratio, its been stretched out to fill widescreen giving everyone stretched out look, no matter to me as you get full control of the letterbox size in XBMC, yeah the sound is bloody weak I adjusted the volume amplification setting, sounded a bit better but not ideal, overall not a bad download but now wishing I‘d found a better one. |

for you guys who have a problem with the low volume on this one if u wanna watch on PC and vlc is not enough then simply download Virtualdub its freeware and increase the volume and save avi...thats it..u will have extra high volume 500% with great video and audio quality.. |

Amazing, great quality and no sound problems as some above users stated they had.
Only one small problem, the parts of the movie where they talk elvish there are no english subtitles to translate what they are saying. Since I have seen this before it didn‘t really make much of a difference, but people seeing it for the first time might get slightly confused at these parts. Once again, thanks for the great upload! |

This in NOT a widescreen video rip...this is the "vertically stretched" 4:3 aspect ratio, not the 16:9 "letterbox" version. It looks like crap on screen. |

If you use KMPlayer to get the correct aspect ratio:
Right-click-Menu-Screen Controls-Keep 2:35:1 (Cinemascope) To revert AR to normal select: Do Not Keep Aspect Ratio! :) BTW: KMPlayer is the best player ever and its free!!!! |

update: i figured out how to get the elvish translations without there being subtitles for the whole movie. save the files from the links above into your lotr file then "extract here" on the files and delete all of the subtitle files EXCEPT FOR the ones labled FORCED SUBTITLES ONLY. |

AS LISTED, THE SOUND IS AC3, you need a proper decoder for that, THE VIDEO IS ANAMORPHIC WIDESCREEN, if it‘s tall and stretched your player is on the wrong setting!!! I recommend the HDX-1000, it‘s a 1080P box you can stick a 1, 2, 3 TB drive inside, it has HDMI, Component, and usb or ethernet for networking. |

Nice, I‘ve downloaded this before so i know its sweet, cheers again, the sound problem is coming from the fact that it comes in 5.1. If you dont have a decent sound-card, digitally conectted to a digital (not analouge) reciever ie, an amp/hifi ect... or a sweet program like Audition ect.. its gonna sound a bit... well weak. VLC does have the option to change the audio device/track and channel, playing with these along with the sound configuration should sort this one out
