I got to the part where they blame the invention of clocks and time on all of our modern problems (about two minutes in) and turned it off.
You can hate the concept of externalized time all you want; the Chinese disregarded the invention of the clock, which led to the Swiss and other Europeans gaining a supreme technological edge (which is only disappearing recently) due to the fact that clock-making requires extremely precise tools. Poking your fingers in your ears and screaming "LALALALA" as loud as you can only makes you more ignorant, and an ignorant race is easy to subject, as the British found with their opium in China. |

Yea, but it‘s still true, look it up. China was a potential dominant world force until the time clocks were invented, which is why an English or Swiss cannon was considered reliable, whereas Chinese cannons would quite often explode where they stood.
The desire to tell time directly led to the creation of precision tools, and therefore almost all "modern" technology. If I hadn‘t studied military history in the Marine Corps, I‘d have never known any of this crap. So yay for the military actually teaching me something. |

EyeCEyes...it seems very convenient of the military to be praising of something that would give any country a dominant edge, the underlying agenda is of advantage by force. The balance would have been found even without the invention of clocks, precise tools would have found another avenue into existance perhaps through something less prone to exploitation. There is escape from immediacy, but not from the age old struggle to grow. |
