Frequently Asked Questions
Btjunkie is the largest BitTorrent search engine. We store the torrent files that enable you to download files with BitTorrent.
What is BitTorrent?
BitTorrent is a peer-to-peer protocol used to distribute files. In laymen's terms, you use it to download files.

Where can I get a BitTorrent Client?
What is a .torrent file?
This is a small metadata file. Metadata here means that the file contains information about the data you want to download, not the data itself. Your BitTorrent client needs the .torrent file to connect to the tracker(?) and download the data you want.
What is a tracker?
A server on the internet that acts to coordinate the actions of BitTorrent clients. When you open a torrent, your machine contacts the tracker and asks for a list of peers to connect to.
What is a seed?
A seed is a client that has a complete copy of the data from the torrent. Once you have completed downloading a torrent you also become a seeder.
What is a leech?
A leech is a client that is in the process of downloading a torrent. Once the client has the complete file they become a seed.
What to do with .rar, .r01, .r02 files?
These are RAR archive files, which is just a compression type similar to .zip but just split up into many files. You need to install a program like WinRAR to extract the contents.
What if it is password protected?
The password is most likely the URL that is in the name of the torrent (posibly even with [] if it is for example "Test torrent [www.test.com]"). If that is not the case try the URL of the tracker (see the details page of the torrent). If that is not the password try to go to the tracker URL (without the scrape part!) and look for a password there. Another good idea is to go back and check the torrent details page to see if anyone has posted the password, if not you can add a comment requesting it.
How come my video files aren't playing?
You are most likely missing the codec (decoder) required to play the file. The most common codec missing is DivX. A good tool to find out what codec you are missing is AVIcodec.
What to do with .cue/.bin, .iso, and .nrg files?
These are cd image files that can either be burned onto CD or extracted to your hard drive. MagicISO will do both.
I keep getting this message from the tracker: Port 6881 is blacklisted.?
You must change your listening port in your BitTorrent client Prefrences/Options.
